The brief

Born Rebel Co is a new Australian label making hand-finished cowboy boots in small runs, built to order. The boots were still being made and the full storefront was still in build, but the brand was already talking to people and had nowhere to send them. Kim needed something live in the meantime so she could start generating hype online. Not a placeholder, but a page that sold the brand on its own, gave her social a destination worth posting and turned early interest into a list she could email the day she opened.

What I built

A coming soon page built as the store's own password page, so it is the first thing anyone sees while the shop stays locked. No separate site to host, no second thing to maintain, and it hands over to the real storefront automatically the moment the password comes off.

  • Brand-led design on a dark palette with Playfair Display and Jost, carrying the same Royal Stewart tartan that runs across the top of the main site so the two read as one brand before the shop has even opened

  • Kim's own words, kept exactly as she wrote them

  • VIP list capture taking a first name and an email, so her first campaign can open with someone's name rather than "hi there"

  • Signups saved straight into Shopify as customers tagged for the list, ready to email on day one with no export or third-party tool in between

  • Instagram, Facebook and TikTok linked, so the traffic she was already driving had somewhere to land

  • Every word, colour, the logo and the tartan editable by Kim in Shopify's own editor

  • Responsive down to phone width, where most of the traffic was coming from, and checked against WCAG AA contrast
